Hajeong Lee is a physician-scientist. She graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine, Seoul, South Korea. She earned M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in immunology from Seoul National University College of Medicine. Her doctoral study focused on the role of Th17 pathway-driven inflammation in anti-glomerular basement membrane glomerulonephritis. As a physician, after completing her training as a physician in Internal Medicine, especially as a Nephrology specialist at Seoul National University Hospital, she started her professional care for patients suffering from glomerular diseases or those who should receive kidney transplantation for their irreversible loss of kidney function at the same institution since 2013. Hajeong was selected as a recipient of the Young Investigator Award (2019) and Best Academic Award (2022) from the Korean Society of Nephrology and the Excellent Academic Award (2022) from Seoul National University Hospital (2022). She joined Huh's lab in 2023 to expand her research scope and to learn the mechanisms of the microbial regulation of host immune responses.
