Ji Hyun earned her B.MLSc from University of British Columbia, Canada in 2017. She then went on to study interactions within the gut microbiome as a focus of her graduate studies at Yonsei University College of Medicine, South Korea, under the supervision of Prof. Sang Sun Yoon. Ji Hyun obtained her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology in 2023. More specifically, she investigated the role of commensal Bacteroides species in inhibiting Vibrio cholerae infection, and interactions of commensal Escherichia coli species with their bacteriophage counterparts. She looks forward to deepening her understanding of how the gut microbiome modulates the host’s health.
